It's SNOWING!!

Ok it is only snowing a bit but, it is still snowing!!! Here are some pictures of the Veteran's Day Parade float the homeschool enrichment day kids made. We have been so busy working on it I haven't had time to update lately. The kids had a blast and actually did most of the work!

Our theme was Homeschooled Heros!

They had trouble coordinating waving and throwing candy at the same time!

Wes was very excited to sit in the Corvette while we waited at the Depot for the parade to start!

Hope you are all warm and doing well!!

Disappointed Kiddos!

We were supposed to go camping this weekend with some friends but the weather is not supposed to be good so we are staying put. The kids are upset but cheered a little when we told them we would try and go see High School Musical 3 over the weekend. For now we are in Louisville getting ready to head to my Grandmother's in Shelby/Henry County (Her home sits pretty much on the Shelby/Henry County line). Hopefully she and my granddad have some chores for us to help with. My grandfather has not done well since he had his appendix out a few months ago. Please pray for him to regain his balance and strength and more so for his out look. He has been depressed since the surgery.
Hope you guys are having a good week!

Isaiah and Hunter Update

I wish I could tell you that the reason for a delayed update is because I was busy chasing a 2 year old around but that is not the case. Last Wednesday the judge chose to leave him in the custody of the Cabinet but to allow him to go home with Dad and Step Mom. Step mom had to pass a drug test first and she has to do so every two weeks until the next hearing in December. She also has to go to a drug assessment and they have to go together to a domestic violence assessment to see if they need further counseling. I pray that these are things that will change their life choices but I am not hopeful. It is in the court record that if she fails a drug test he is to be removed from their home and Ben and I are to be considered first. Please pray for Hunter. He cried after the foster mom when they gave him to his Dad and Step Mom. His birthday was Saturday and on Wednesday immediately after the hearing they were making big plans for a party (that we were not invited to). They did thank us for being willing to "do what we were going to do" as she put it.
And now Isaiah... He is a VERY SICK little boy! Please pray for healing and wisdom for him and the doctors. The link to the left will take you to his Caring Bridge site.

Enrichment Day

We had the blessing last night of being a part of our friend Jacob's ordination service! We love you Jacob, Beth, Josiah and Gracie! We pray the Lord will continue to bless your ministry and lives!
Tomorrow morning is Enrichment Day for the homeschool group and I am in charge this month! Scary, I know!! Made even scarier by the fact that a stomach bug is making its way through our family! Elizabeth came down with it yesterday morning, then Rebekah and Ben were hit about the same time this afternoon. As of now Wes and I are healthy and praying it stays that way!!! I seriously can not miss tomorrow!!
Wes is very excited to go to his first E Day as we call it. He went last year once during the school systems Fall Break and loved it! I think he is most excited to get to use his lunch box for the first time :) We are studying Veteran's Day and symbols of our country (like the flag)
Hope everyone is doing well and say a prayer for Tricia tonight! She is ill and they were heading to Durham today for check ups for her and Gwyneth. Check out the CF Husband blog for more info and updates from Nate!!

Waiting...

I mentioned before that Ben and I were considering a big change for our family. Well we have made a decision and are waiting...
We have decided to seek custody of our great nephew. He is currently in foster care in another county. We are waiting for the next hearing, which is next Wednesday. I spoke with Ben's sister today (she is the child's grandmother) and she had just had a visit with him and spoke to the case worker (please don't call these people social workers if they don't have a social work degree! Ok, the Social Worker will get off her small soap box now :) He, the case worker, seems to have a favorable bend toward the child's dad and step mom. The case worker indicated to Delena that the child might go with them next week. Ben and I very much do not want this to happen for numerous reasons!!
So we are waiting...
There are no answers today, no way to speak to the attorney for the child until court (he is out of town), no way to know what the case workers intentions are. We are waiting on the Lord and trusting that what is best for this sweet boy will come out in the end.
Waiting...

Back to work!

We have had to return to the "real world"!! The last 2 weeks were great and a much needed break! I went back to work Friday night and since we had a full staff was home before 11pm. Ben went back last night and it was so clear he didn't want to leave last night!! He got home and promptly collapsed into bed :) The kids are dragging their feet this morning, probably because they didn't get in bed until almost 10pm. Phil Cross was in concert last night at church and then Ben and I met with Herb and Karen for a bit. So, we didn't get home until late.
Please be praying for Ben and I. We are moving forward with something that will be a huge change for our family. Not ready to give all the details here but will as soon as we are clear that it will happen. I treasure the prayers of our friends!!
Have a great week everyone!

Disney and the Ocean!

The Jarboe journey to Disney World and the ocean was GREAT!! The kids were fantastic on the drive and cooperative while we toured the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios (ok so the rain at the end of our HS day did make them a bit cranky :)

I wish I had a recording of the giggles when the salty ocean tickled their toes for the first time! So precious!!! The first afternoon the surge was high and the waves were harder than I ever remember. We were staying in Daytona just down the road from the hotel my family always stayed in so there were lots of happy memories shared with the kids by myself and Grammy and PaPa. We are so grateful to Grammy and PaPa for making this trip a reality for us!

Here are a few photos from the trip!!

This giant gorrilla was in front of a gas station somewhere in Georgia. Wes is bravely using his Native America spear to rescue his sisters! :) The spear, along with matching head dress, were his first suveniors. PaPa gave them each the same amount of money to spend on WHATEVER they wanted! Inteference from Mom or Grammy was not allowed!! Let me tell you it led to some interesting choices!

You can see the beautiful weather the Lord blessed us with (thanks for the prayers Shelly LOL!) as well as a beautiful resort pool! That is Wes on the slide.
That thing on Wesley's head is Jamacian Mickey Mouse ears! Braids and all!! The hat and ears are knitted so the ears wouldn't stay up!! We didn't see anyone else wearing these particular ears if you can believe that :)

All of us with Goofy and Pluto at Hollywood Studios! Note Ben's Goofy t shirt. They had one that I wish I had gotten that said "I'm with Goofy" So fitting for us don't you think LOL!!

Let the giggles begin!

My favorite photo from the week! Thanks for checking in with us! There are lots more pictures and if I ever figure out how to do the blogger video thing I'll add some!
